Allegations of Mistreatment by IndiGo: Asian Para Medallist Claims to Have Been Ignored

Suvarna alleged mistreatment by IndiGo crew members during a flight from New Delhi to Chennai. She had booked seat 39D (Aisle) on the Chennai-bound flight.

Speaking to ANI, the para-athlete expressed frustration with the repeated lack of a personal wheelchair at the aircraft door despite her requests. She recounted instances where despite asking for her wheelchair, she was met with indifference by the crew members and criticized their attitude towards her.

Suvarna also raised concerns about the lack of sensitivity towards specially-abled individuals, citing an incident where a security staffer asked her wheelchair-bound friend to stand for a check. She emphasized the need for greater understanding and support for the challenges faced by differently-abled people.

Additionally, Suvarna claimed that her personal wheelchair, valued at Rs 3 lakh, was damaged by the airline crew and demanded compensation for the damage. She called for strict action to be taken by the government to address such incidents and ensure adherence to policies regarding the provision of assistance to differently-abled passengers.

Suvarna expressed her desire to bring attention to the mistreatment she experienced and urged for more empathy towards the issues faced by specially-abled individuals.
