Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on February 2. A special court hearing cases related to PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) had allowed Hemant Soren to participate in the trust vote process. On February 2, the court had sent Hemant Soren to ED custody for five days.

The BJP state president, while participating in the confidence proposal presented by the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, in the assembly, also alleged that after a conspiracy by the central government, the Raj Bhavan played a crucial role in his arrest.
