PM Narendra Modi Extols India as 3 Grammys Head to the Country: India Proudly Captures Global Attention

Indian musicians made headlines on Sunday as they secured three Grammy Awards. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, and other musicians for their impressive achievement at the highly esteemed music awards ceremony. Zakir Hussain and flautist Rakesh Chaurasia received two joint awards for their song “Pashto” and the album “As We Speak,” to which the song belongs. “Pashto,” featuring American musicians Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, received the award for Best Global Music Performance, while “As We Speak” emerged victorious in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album section. Additionally, Zakir Hussain’s supergroup ‘Shakti’ secured the award for Best Global Music Album for their work on “This Moment.”

In other notable Grammy wins, Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” claimed Album of the Year, Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” won Song of the Year, and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” also received Song of the Year. Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus were both recognized in the Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance categories, respectively.
