Why Telangana will use TG as its abbreviation instead of TS admin, February 5, 2024 The Telangana cabinet has made several decisions ahead of the state budget session, which begins Thursday. One of the key decisions is to hold a caste census in the state, in line with the Congress’s promise to hold it across the nation after coming to power. This decision follows Chief Minister Reddy’s announcement last month that a caste census will be taken up in the state soon. In addition, the cabinet has decided to reimagine Telangana Talli, the symbolic mother goddess of the state, in a new look. The state anthem will be changed to ‘Jaya Jaya Ho Telangana’ by Andre Sri and the state’s abbreviation will be changed to TG from TS. The ruling dispensation has accused the former regime of choosing ‘TS’ to match their party name. This move is significant as it reflects the ruling party’s national aspirations – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was earlier known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), and the change in abbreviation reflects this shift. Furthermore, the cabinet has issued orders to allocate 100 acres for a new high court complex in Rajendranagar district. The state government will also implement gas and power guarantees during the budget session, with the Chief Minister expected to make the announcements in the assembly. Chief Minister Reddy has also reiterated his promise to fulfil all six election guarantees within 100 days of assuming power. He has also challenged his predecessor K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), his son KT Rama Rao (KTR), and nephew Harish Rao for a debate on the floor of the assembly on irrigation projects. BRS has accepted the challenge. However, the Congress and the BRS have been engaged in a war of words, each accusing the other of letting down the interests of the state and the farmers.
