Tata Motors’ Electric Cars Now Offer More Affordable Prices

The prices of Nexon.ev and Tiago.ev have been reduced by up to Rs 1.2 lakh and Rs 70,000, respectively. The new prices for Nexon.ev MR (Medium Range) start from Rs 14.49 lakh, Nexon.ev LR (Long Range) start from 16.99 lakh, and for Tiago.ev start from Rs 7.99 lakh. The company has attributed this price reduction to the decrease in battery cost.

Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, TPEM, stated that battery costs make up a significant portion of the overall cost of an EV. With recent softening in battery cell prices and the potential for further reduction in the future, the company has decided to proactively pass on the resulting benefits to customers. In a similar move, MG Motors also reduced the prices of its MG Comet EV by amounts ranging from Rs 99,000 to Rs 1.40 lakh.

Additionally, they introduced a more affordable variant, the ZS EV “Executive,” priced at Rs 18.98 lakhs. Gaurav Gupta, the company’s Deputy Managing Director, cited “long term key commodities cost rationalization” as the driving force behind this decision.
