K Kavitha writes to court about ‘Reputation Hit, Privacy Invasion’ in Delhi Liquor Policy Case admin, April 8, 2024 K Kavitha was arrested on March 15 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. She is the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The Enforcement Directorate, investigating the money laundering aspect of the alleged scam, made the arrest. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation, which initiated the initial probe into the liquor policy case, has been granted permission to question her in jail. In a letter to the court, Ms. Kavitha expressed her concerns about the central agencies’ investigation, which she referred to as a “media trial.” She asserted that it has damaged her reputation and invaded her privacy. She maintained that she has cooperated with the agencies, providing bank account details and stating her intention to hand over the mobile phones that the Enforcement Directorate claims she had destroyed. Earlier, the court had refused her request to address the court in person, insisting that she communicate her requests in writing. Ms. Kavitha criticized the BJP for allegedly misusing the central agencies, claiming that the majority of cases pursued by the ED/CBI target opposition leaders, and that investigations abruptly stop when the accused joins the BJP. After leaving the court, Ms. Kavitha expressed confidence that the case against her “won’t stand the test of time.” She dismissed it as a political case, accusing the authorities of targeting opposition parties.
