Bengaluru Man Denied Metro Entry Over Clothes: Namma Metro Discrimination? admin, April 9, 2024 The passengers on a metro train intervened when a man was told to button up his shirt by staff at the Doddakallasandra Metro Station. They recorded the incident and shared it on social media. One of the passengers posted on X, tagging BMRCL and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, expressing concern about the incident and the treatment of the laborer. This led to a public outcry. BMRCL responded by stating that all passengers are treated equally, and they do not differentiate based on wealth, gender, or any other factor. They explained that the man was suspected of being in an inebriated state and was asked to stand to ensure the safety of women and children on the metro. After counseling, he was allowed to travel. Previously, BMRCL had faced criticism for not allowing a farmer to board the train due to his tattered clothes. This led to the sacking of a security staffer after a public outcry.
