Unsafe Condition Detected in 5 Towers of ‘Chintels Paradiso’ Society in Gurugram, Demolition Planned

The Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav issued an order on Monday granting permission to demolish towers D, E, F, G, and H of a residential society. The demolition request was made by the builder due to safety concerns, following the collapse of six floors of Tower D on February 10, 2022, resulting in the death of two residents. These towers were declared unsafe for habitation based on audit reports submitted by an IIT Delhi team to the administration.

The order states that permission is granted for the demolition of the specified towers, subject to compliance with the policies and guidelines of the concerned departments. The matter was discussed by a committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Hitesh Kumar Meena and representatives of concerned departments, as mentioned in the response to the builder’s email. The order also clarifies that the permission granted does not exempt the builder from complying with applicable state/central laws, acts, or policies.

It emphasizes that the builder will be solely responsible for any lapses, mishaps, or carelessness at the site, with relevant action to be taken as necessary. The builder is required to submit fortnightly reports along with compliances to the concerned authorities. Mr. Meena has confirmed the issuance of the demolition order, and the order emphasizes the responsibility and accountability of the builder in carrying out the demolition.
