Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann cannot meet in jail due to security reasons.

According to sources, an appointment between Mann, Singh, and Kejriwal was scheduled by the Tihar Jail administration. However, the permission for the meeting has since been revoked, and the prison authorities will arrange a new time for the meeting. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court’s decision dismissing his plea against his arrest by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in the Excise policy case.

The Delhi High Court, in its ruling on Tuesday, stated that Kejriwal’s arrest is not illegal and cannot be viewed as a violation of the law. However, the Aam Aadmi Party remains hopeful of receiving justice from the Supreme Court. The court emphasized that the timing of the accused’s arrest and remand must be assessed in accordance with the law and not in relation to the timing of elections.

It also stated that Kejriwal’s challenge to the timing of his arrest, in the absence of any mala fide on the part of the ED, is not justifiable. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21, and a trial court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody until April 15, 2024. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party is the primary beneficiary of the proceeds of crime related to an alleged liquor scam and has also claimed that Kejriwal was directly involved in the drafting of the excise policy.
