Ramdev Supreme Court Patanjali: Supreme Court stern with Ramdev, rejects apology again

The court’s criticism of the Uttarakhand licensing authority and Patanjali has brought attention to their failure to act sooner and the insincerity of their apologies. The court questioned the genuineness of the apologies and expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the Patanjali founders. It also called for the suspension of three officers at once and criticized the licensing authority for being in collusion with Patanjali. The court highlighted the repeated violations of the law and the licensing authority’s failure to take appropriate action against Patanjali’s misleading advertisements.

It emphasized that issuing warnings and compounding offenses are not provided for in the 1954 Act. The court also reprimanded the state counsel and questioned their association with Patanjali, accusing them of putting people’s lives at risk. The court raised concerns about the consumption of Patanjali medicines and expressed skepticism about the efficacy of the products, particularly in treating incurable diseases. It also noted the attempts by Ramdev and Balkrishna to avoid appearing in court and criticized the licensing authority for its lack of action and the dismissive attitude of Divya pharmacy towards warnings.

The court directed all officials who held posts as district ayurvedic and unani officers from 2018 to file replies on the actions they have taken against these ads. It announced that it would pass orders on Ramdev and Balkrishna on April 16.
