Supreme Court again rebukes Ramdev, rejects apology, says “We Are Not Blind” – Patanjali.

The court recently criticized the Uttarakhand licensing authority for not taking any action against Patanjali for a significant period and stated its dissatisfaction with the Centre’s response. The court regarded the apology from Patanjali’s founders as insincere and suggested that they should face the consequences for violating court orders.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Patanjali founders, acknowledged a “lapse” in their actions, but the court emphasized that merely tendering an apology is insufficient and highlighted the need for them to suffer the consequences of their actions. The court also scrutinized the Uttarakhand government for its inaction, asserting that three officers should be suspended immediately.

It criticized the licensing inspectors for not taking action despite multiple instances of misleading advertisements. The court expressed concerns about the licensing authority being “in cahoots” with Patanjali and accused them of neglecting their responsibilities.

It further called upon district ayurvedic and unani officers to provide details of their actions against such advertisements. The Supreme Court scheduled a hearing for April 16 to pass orders on Ramdev and Balkrishna’s actions and showed their discontent with the licensing authority’s response to the warnings and the behavior of Patanjali’s Divya pharmacy.
