2024 Lok Sabha Election: Congress Spokesman Rohan Gupta joins BJP. His Final Words

Rohan Gupta expressed his strong belief that leaders who are unable to listen should not be given unrestricted authority. Although he did not directly mention anyone, it was evident that his comments were directed towards the individual responsible for handling communications for the party. Gupta revealed that this leader failed to reach out when his father was ill and in the hospital and also contributed to the dissemination of unclear messages from the party.

He expressed his deep disappointment with the issues under the leader’s charge, including matters related to nationalism, Sanatan, and alliances with the Aam Aadmi Party. Despite his upset, he continued to persevere. However, the lack of a courtesy call regarding his father’s health became the last straw, prompting his decision to leave the party.

Gupta addressed the criticism that arises when individuals leave a party, emphasizing that the decision was a matter of self-respect and the need for the party to listen to feedback from its members. He also explained his decision to join the BJP, citing the party’s long-term vision and its alignment with the centrist policies and nationalism that the Congress once represented. Gupta voiced his disillusionment with the Congress’s adoption of leftist ideas, such as their refusal to attend the Ayodhya Ram temple inauguration and their criticism of businessmen contributing to the country’s growth.

He criticized the Congress’s failure to uphold its historical values, such as economic liberalization and support for the country’s economic growth. Gupta also expressed his disappointment with the party’s approach to the temple inauguration, stating that it was a significant mistake. He highlighted the party’s lack of ban on visiting the temple and emphasized that leaders should have the freedom to make individual choices.

When questioned about Rahul Gandhi’s temple visits, Gupta suggested that Gandhi should choose advisors that understand grassroots issues. In response to inquiries about his previous tweets criticizing the BJP, Gupta stated that he is not ashamed of his past and has worked diligently for the party for 15 years. However, he indicated that the party no longer aligns with his vision and mission, and he is now seeking a graceful transition.
