She had been sent to 14-day judicial custody last Tuesday. The recent arrest comes after the probe agency questioned her in jail, where she is currently in judicial custody. CBI officials had obtained permission from a special court to question her inside the prison. During the questioning, the BRS leader was asked about WhatsApp chats recovered from co-accused Buchi Babu’s phone and documents related to a land deal, which reportedly involved an alleged payment of Rs 100 crore to the AAP as kickbacks to influence the excise policy for the national capital in favor of a liquor lobby. Following this, CBI officials visited Tihar Jail to continue the questioning on these aspects of the case. In a letter to the court, the woman expressed her concerns about the investigation by central agencies, referring to it as a “media trial” that has affected her reputation and invaded her privacy. She emphasized that she is a victim and stated that her personal and political reputation has been targeted. Additionally, she mentioned that her mobile phone has been displayed on television channels, further violating her privacy. The letter, which was read out in the court by her lawyer, also highlighted her cooperation with the agencies in providing bank account details and pledged to hand over all the mobile phones that the ED claims were destroyed.
