Haryana Bus Accident: 6 Students Die in Crash, Questions Arise Over School Opening on Eid

There is growing concern from parents and locals as to why a school remained open on Eid, which is a public holiday. This decision led to an unfortunate incident where the driver of the school bus, owned by GL Public School, was found to be drunk. Additionally, it was discovered that the bus’s fitness certificate had expired in 2018. Due to this unfortunate turn of events, a state road transport official has been suspended for not ensuring that vehicles were operating with proper valid documents.

State Education Minister Seema Trikha has emphasized the need for an inquiry to understand why the school was operational on a holiday. She has stated that a show-cause notice has been issued and that private schools are required to submit self-affidavits, assuring compliance with transport rules. Minister Trikha has made it clear that schools will be held accountable for such tragedies, particularly if it is found that the drivers of school buses were intoxicated. In such cases, FIRs will be filed against the driver, the school’s principal, and the bus owner.

This development highlights the need for stricter adherence to regulations and safety measures within educational institutions and their transportation systems.
