India Now Home to World’s Largest Renewable Energy Park – 5 Times Larger Than Paris admin, April 11, 2024 Khavda is the world’s largest renewable energy park, utilizing a combination of solar and wind energy. The area, located in Gujarat’s Kutch, was initially discovered by Gautam Adani, the head of the Adani Group, in December 2022. The land, known for its highly saline soil and lack of vegetation, is spread over 538 square kilometers and is deemed suitable for a renewable energy park due to its ideal solar radiation and wind speeds. Adani Green Energy Ltd has invested approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore to generate 30 megawatts of clean electricity at Khavda, with plans to expand to 11 GW by the end of March 2025. The park, situated near the international border with Pakistan, faces challenges such as heavy dust storms, limited communication and transport infrastructure, and the absence of habitable areas within an 80-kilometer radius. The park’s infrastructure includes an airstrip used to transport Adani Group executives, which is managed by air traffic controllers in Bhuj, 160 kilometers away. The energ project aims to generate 81 billion units of electricity and will be entirely covered with waterless robotic module cleaning systems to combat frequent sandstorms. The Khavda land is leased from the government by the Adani Group, which conducted extensive studies and assessments before commencing construction in 2022. The project includes the construction of roads, drainage, desalination and RO plants, laying optical fiber cables, and concrete batching plants. The Adani Group’s long-term renewable energy plans aim to generate 500 GW of electricity from non-fossil sources by 2030, with Khavda being a critical component of this vision. Khavda Energy Park
