PM Modi Urges Urgent Address of India-China Border Situation

In a recent interview with US’s Newsweek magazine, Prime Minister Modi expressed hope for India and China to restore border peace through positive engagement. He emphasized the significance of stable India-China relations not only for the two countries but also for the entire region and world. PM Modi urged for urgent attention to the prolonged situation on the borders to normalize bilateral interactions.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the importance of peaceful and stable relations between India and China. He stressed the need for positive and constructive diplomatic and military engagement to achieve and maintain peace and tranquility at the borders. This comes in the aftermath of clashes that claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers and resulted in unspecified casualties on the Chinese side.

It led to high-level diplomatic and military discussions between the two countries. Moreover, PM Modi also addressed the India-Pakistan relations, which were strained following the 2019 Pulwama attack. He congratulated the Prime Minister of Pakistan on taking office and reiterated India’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and prosperity in the region while advocating for a terror-free environment.

When asked about the imprisonment of Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, he declined to comment on the internal matters of the neighboring country.
