Tragic Accident: 6 Children Killed in Haryana School Bus Crash Blamed on Allegedly Drunk Driver

A tragic incident occurred in Haryana’s Mahendragarh as a school bus carrying students from Class 4 to 10 crashed, resulting in the deaths of six children and leaving over 20 others injured. The driver, believed to have been drunk, lost control of the bus, which rammed a tree and overturned. Shockingly, the accident took place despite the school being open on a holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr. Amidst the devastating aftermath, schoolbags and bottles were strewn across the crash site, serving as haunting remnants of the tragedy that occurred on what should have been a joyous day for the children celebrating the Eid festival.

Authorities revealed that 12 injured students have been admitted to a local hospital, while two others in critical condition have been transferred to a hospital in Rohtak. Following the accident, authorities discovered that the bus’s fitness certificate had expired six years ago in 2018, raising questions about the negligence and lack of maintenance. Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus driver, who abandoned the vehicle after the crash, may have been under the influence of alcohol. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini expressed their condolences and pledged to provide support and assistance to the victims and their families.

Tragically, the parents of one of the students were also involved in a separate crash while en route to the accident site, resulting in injuries and the loss of a younger sibling. As the community reels from the devastating events, the State Education Minister has initiated an inquiry into why the school was operational on a holiday. Authorities are also questioning the school’s management regarding their role in the tragic incident.
