Arrest Made in Bengaluru Cafe Bombing Plot: 2 Men Arrested in Connection With Rameshwaram Cafe Blast

The agency has conducted searches at 18 locations in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and UP. The available evidence indicates that Shazeb planted the explosive device inside a backpack at the popular eatery.

Taha was responsible for planning the attack and their disappearance. Last month, Muzammil Shareef, who extended logistical support to Shazeb and Taha, was taken into custody, making these the second and third arrests in the case.

The blast at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1 injured 10 people, including customers and staff, but fortunately, there were no deaths. The explosives were placed in a relatively less crowded area against a large pillar, which absorbed most of the explosion’s impact.

Following the blast, the NIA released photos and videos of the accused from CCTV footage across Bengaluru. One such clip showed the accused, wearing a face mask, boarding a bus.

The agency declared a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the arrest of each accused, and also questioned their acquaintances, including college and school friends. The Rameshwaram Cafe, which suffered extensive damage, reopened eight days later with enhanced security measures, including metal detectors.

Earlier, the Bengaluru Police had registered a case under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act in connection with the explosion at the cafe. *NDTV is now available on WhatsApp channels.
