Arrests Made in Bengaluru Cafe Bombing: Two Men Accused of Plotting and Planting Explosive at Rameshwaram Cafe admin, April 12, 2024 The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at 18 different locations in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. The searches revealed evidence indicating that Shazeb planted the explosive device, concealed in a backpack, at a popular eatery. Taha was found to be responsible for planning the attack and for their subsequent disappearance. These arrests mark the second and third in this case. Last month, Muzammil Shareef, who provided logistical support to Shazeb and Taha, was also taken into custody. The explosion at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1 resulted in injuries to 10 people, including customers and staff, but fortunately, there were no fatalities. The explosives were placed in a less crowded area against a large pillar, which helped absorb much of the impact. Following the blast, the NIA released photos and videos of the accused, captured by CCTV cameras across Bengaluru. The agency had also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to the arrest of each accused. In addition to the arrests, the agency questioned acquaintances of the suspects, including their college and school friends. The Rameshwaram Cafe, which sustained extensive damage, reopened eight days later with enhanced security measures, such as the installation of metal detectors. Previously, the Bengaluru Police had registered a case under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act in connection with the cafe explosion.
