Delhi Man Lands in Jail After Trying Same Bank Job Scam on Others admin, April 12, 2024 Vishal Ahuja, 31, a resident of Uttam Nagar and a diploma holder from Pusa Institute, was accused of fraudulent activities on a job portal. He advertised fake positions for ‘Banking Assistant and Data Entry Operator’ on WorkIndia and would send counterfeit offers, appointments, and confirmation letters to victims. Sagar Ranga filed a complaint on NCRP after responding to one of Ahuja’s job advertisements, which led to his arrest. The victim received a call from a man claiming to be an HR officer at HDFC Bank, who promised a job and requested money for police verification and demo fees. After the victim sent a total of Rs 6,829, communication ceased. The investigation revealed that the money was deposited in the account of a woman named Anupama in Haryana, and further inquiry led to the tracing of Ahuja’s mobile number to Patel Nagar. A team conducted surveillance and noted payments made from the account at specific locations. Additionally, it was discovered that the fraudster used proxy SIM cards and accounts. After evading capture by frequently changing locations, Ahuja was apprehended at Dwarka Mor Metro Station while attempting to meet another potential victim. It was revealed that Ahuja confessed to purchasing a package from WorkIndia to advertise fake jobs and deceive job-seekers through WhatsApp. He altered candidate names using online PDF editing tools to send fake letters from HDFC Bank and would destroy ATM cards once bank accounts were blocked or frozen by the police. Anupama also disclosed that the fraudster had used her identity to open an online bank account and commit further fraud. Uttam Nagar
