Mumbai: QR Pendant Helps Reunite Mentally Challenged Boy With Parents

A child was found wandering in Colaba, a southern part of the city on Thursday afternoon. According to an official, the child seemed lost and distressed and was unable to coherently communicate with people who approached him. After being taken to a policeman, attempts to locate his family through missing person alerts at police stations were unsuccessful. However, a pendant found around the child’s neck contained a QR (quick response) code, which led to the discovery of a phone number belonging to an NGO that works with mentally unwell children.

The NGO confirmed that the child was a resident of Worli and that his parents had been searching for him since morning. The child was eventually reunited with his father at the police station, bringing great relief to everyone involved. This positive outcome was made possible by the combined efforts of the police and the NGO.
