Mr Chowdhury, seeking re-election from his constituency, accused the Trinamool Congress of orchestrating a ploy to impede his campaign. He claimed that the party’s actions were an attempt to discourage people from supporting the Congress.

According to Mr Chowdhury, the incident was reminiscent of the tactics employed by the TMC during last year’s civic polls. Specifically, he alleged that the TMC had organized a protest against him, aimed at obstructing his progress.

Mr Chowdhury reported the incident to the district superintendent of police and requested intervention in the matter. The Trinamool Congress, however, responded by labeling his actions as “hooliganism” and accused him of using muscle power to intimidate their workers.

In a direct response to Mr Chowdhury’s claims, the TMC stated that the incident was a display of thuggery by the Congress leader. The party also emphasized their nomination of former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan as their candidate in Baharampur, where Mr Chowdhury has been the winning candidate since 1999.
