Adhir Chowdhury’s Confrontation with “Drunk” Man in a Crowded Street Caught on Video

Mr Chowdhury, who is seeking re-election from the constituency, has accused the Trinamool Congress of orchestrating a campaign to hinder his campaign. He alleged that the party is attempting to discourage people from working for the Congress party and claimed that similar tactics were employed by the TMC during last year’s civic polls. According to Mr Chowdhury, the TMC was responsible for a recent incident in which he was confronted by a group yelling “Go back, go back!!” He stated that he believes the TMC organized the incident in an attempt to hinder his re-election efforts.

Mr Chowdhury has informed the district superintendent of police and requested intervention in the matter. In response, the Trinamool Congress labeled Mr Chowdhury’s allegations as “sheer display of hooliganism” and accused him of using thuggery in Baharampur. The party asserted that his actions were driven by the fear of losing elections, and warned against using muscle power to intimidate their workers. The TMC has fielded former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan as their candidate against Mr Chowdhury, who has represented the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency since 1999.
