Adhir Chowdhury’s Intense Confrontation with “Drunk” Man in the Middle of a Busy Road

Mr Chowdhury, who is seeking re-election from the constituency, accused the Trinamool Congress of attempting to hinder his campaign. He claimed that the ruling party had initiated this practice during last year’s civic polls. According to Mr Chowdhury, the local TMC is behind the attempt to discourage people from supporting the Congress party.

He mentioned that a similar incident had occurred during the civic polls last year. Mr Chowdhury recounted an incident where he was confronted by individuals who he believes were organized by the TMC to disrupt his activities. He stated that he reported the matter to the district superintendent of police and sought intervention.

In response, the Trinamool Congress dismissed Mr Chowdhury’s allegations, labeling them as a “sheer display of hooliganism.” The party accused him of using fear and intimidation tactics in Baharampur, also highlighting a video of the incident on X. The TMC has nominated former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan to compete against Mr Chowdhury, who has represented the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency since 1999.
