Female Policewoman Who Shot Sydney Knife Attacker Labelled “Hero Cop

The Sydney police officer who shot and killed the man responsible for an attack at a mall, resulting in six fatalities, has been widely praised for her heroic actions. Inspector Amy Scott is credited with stopping the attacker, who had targeted nine individuals, including a nine-month-old baby. Reports indicate that she confronted the assailant alone and ultimately shot him after he attempted to attack her.

Eyewitnesses recount her firing several rounds at the perpetrator. A photo showing the officer checking the assailant’s pulse has been widely circulated on social media. New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb commended Scott’s bravery, emphasizing her enormous courage in the face of danger.

Eyewitnesses describe the attacker as being on a “killing spree” and indicated that he would have continued if not for the officer’s intervention. The assailant, a 40-year-old male known to law enforcement, was not identified by the police. Authorities have stated that the incident was not terrorist-related and that the attacker acted alone.

The rampage resulted in eight people being hospitalized, including a baby, with a total of five women and one man killed.
