Indian Student Chirag Antil, 24, Fatally Shot in Car in Vancouver, Canada

The Vancouver Police reported that Chirag Antil, 24, was discovered deceased inside a vehicle in the area after neighbors heard gunshots. Officers were dispatched to East 55th Avenue and Main Street around 11 pm on April 12 following reports of gunfire.

Concerned about the matter, the National Students’ Union of India chief, Varun Choudhary, tagged the Ministry of External Affairs in a post on X, requesting assistance for Chirag Antil’s family. Mr. Choudhary urged the Ministry of External Affairs to closely monitor the investigation’s progress and ensure swift justice for the Indian student’s murder.

He also asked for the ministry to extend necessary support and assistance to the family during this difficult time. According to local media reports, Chirag Antil’s family is raising funds on the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe to repatriate his body to India.

Romit Antil, Chirag’s brother, expressed their close relationship, emphasizing Chirag’s kind and polite nature. Romit disclosed that Chirag had just completed his MBA at University Canada West and recently obtained his work permit after arriving in Vancouver in September 2022.
