5 People Dead and Several Injured as Bus Bound for Kolkata Falls from Bridge in Odisha

Five people, including a woman, tragically lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in a distressing incident in Odisha’s Jajpur district. The incident occurred when a bus bound for Kolkata from Puri fell from the Barabati bridge on National Highway-16 at around 9 pm.

The bus, carrying 40 passengers, was involved in the accident. The district administration, including the Superintendent of Police and a team of doctors, responded to the scene to oversee rescue efforts.

Fire personnel employed gas cutters to extract the injured individuals. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his condolences for the fatalities and announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for the families of each victim.
