Australia Cricketer Michael Slater Collapses In Court After Bail Denied

A Queensland magistrate denied bail for a 54-year-old former batsman and television commentator accused of domestic violence offences, common assault, and unlawful stalking. The man fell to the floor in court and had to be helped to his feet by court staff after the decision was made.

Allegations against him include sending unwanted text messages and making intimidating phone calls over the last six months. He is scheduled to appear in court again at the end of May.

The court heard that the accused has mental health conditions that can lead to “impulsive and reckless” behavior. He played 74 Test matches from 1993-2001, accumulating over 5,000 runs for Australia, with 14 centuries.
