Pawan Kumar, Son of a Humble Farmer, Achieves His UPSC Dream, Ranks 239

Pawan Kumar, a young man from a nondescript village in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, has achieved remarkable success by securing the 239th rank in the civil services exam, realizing his dream of becoming an IAS officer. Growing up in a mud house under extreme poverty, he was determined to script a different story for the youth of his village, Raghunathpur, defying the challenging circumstances. Despite his family’s financial struggles, Pawan was unwavering in his goal to serve his community as a civil servant. Having grown up with half a dozen cattle tied under the thatched cowshed in his modest home, Pawan’s father, Mukesh Kumar, had hoped he would secure a job to support the family.

However, Pawan remained steadfast in his aspiration to become an IAS officer and make a positive impact on his village. His single-minded dedication to his studies, as his father recounts, left no room for any distractions or leisure activities. Pawan faced the daunting UPSC exam multiple times before finally succeeding on his third attempt. His family’s meager possessions – a small piece of agricultural land and a thatched kutcha – were not lost on him, motivating him to strive for a better future by pursuing education.

His determination to uplift his family from poverty through education was evident, as he prioritized studying whenever he was at home, according to his sister Goldie.
