US Responds to PM Narendra Modi’s Comment on Terrorists Being Killed at Home admin, April 16, 2024 The US has encouraged India and Pakistan to avoid escalation and find a resolution through dialogue. The Biden administration has refrained from getting involved in the situation, reiterating their stance of non-interference. This came in response to remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding India’s stance on combatting terrorism. The US Justice Department has indicted an Indian national, Nikhil Gupta, who is currently in custody, for the murder-for-hire of a person named Pannun. Additionally, the Department claimed that an Indian government employee had recruited Gupta to hire a hitman to carry out the assassination, an attempt that was foiled by US authorities. India has established a committee to investigate this foiled plot. Prime Minister Modi, in a public rally, emphasized the government’s strong stance against terrorism and highlighted significant decisions made under the NDA regime. He underscored the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and other measures taken by the government. India has consistently asserted that it will not tolerate cross-border terrorism and emphasized that improving ties with Islamabad is contingent upon creating an environment free of terror, hostility, and violence. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in an interview, called on Pakistan to take decisive action against cross-border terrorism, offering India’s assistance in combatting terrorism if needed. He reaffirmed India’s resolve to combat terrorism and indicated a willingness to take necessary actions to stop it. The Defence Minister also reiterated India’s commitment to combat terrorism and emphasized that the country will not allow terrorists to operate within its borders. When asked about the possibility of taking action across the border, he mentioned that India would evaluate the situation. Narendra Modi
