BCCI sets strict condition for Hardik Pandya’s T20 World Cup selection in Rohit Sharma meeting.

The batter Hardik has been struggling to perform well this season, having only scored 131 runs in 6 matches at an average of 26.20. Additionally, his performance with the ball has been inconsistent, and he has barely bowled in the last 4 matches, leading to criticism from the opponent team’s batters.

With a place in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad at stake, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee has emphasized the need for him to bowl regularly in order to be selected. During the discussion, it was noted that Hardik has not made a positive impact in his bowling this season.

As a powerplay bowler, he has conceded 44 runs in 4 overs, and in the middle-overs, he has gone for 62 runs in 6 overs. Furthermore, as a death bowler, he has given away 26 runs in just 1 over.

The selectors have also expressed concern that he only plays as an Impact player for his team, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On the other hand, Dube, an all-rounder for CSK, has not been utilized for his bowling this season.

Despite impressing with his power-hitting, especially against spinners, he is not being given the opportunity to showcase his bowling skills. If selected for the T20 World Cup, it is likely that he will be used as a part-time bowler rather than a full all-rounder capable of bowling 4 overs for the team.
