Jet Airways’ former CEO, Sanjiv Kapoor, responds to Anand Mahindra’s Dubai flood analogy with “Incorrect Analogy” title.

The scene in Dubai during a flood was captured in a video shared by the Mahindra Chairperson on X, formerly Twitter. The video showed cars and trucks partially submerged in water, along with luxury cars being stranded in traffic due to the floodwaters. Mr Mahindra compared Dubai’s situation to Mumbai in the tweet.

In response to the comparison, Sanjiv Kapoor reposted the tweet, expressing his disagreement with the analogy and offering a different perspective. He noted that Dubai was not built to withstand such heavy rains, which could lead to flooding in most cities. He explained that a more accurate comparison would be if it suddenly snowed heavily in Bombay, a city not designed to handle snow.

Mr Kapoor also clarified that Mr Mahindra may not have been mocking Dubai in his initial tweet. Mr Kapoor further described the extreme weather conditions in Dubai, sharing another video showing the city engulfed in darkness due to a severe black storm and fog. He emphasized that the amount of rain produced unexpected results, equivalent to a year’s worth of rain in just a few hours.

Furthermore, the text mentioned that Dubai faced a state of paralysis due to heavy storms, leading to nationwide flooding across the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. As a result, all incoming flights were diverted.
