Nripendra Misra, Head of Construction Panel, Reveals PM Modi’s Inception of ‘Surya Tilak’ Ceremony at Ram Temple

Mr. Misra revealed that the Ayodhya Ram Temple Construction Committee is committed to ensuring the annual observance of the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony, as was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ceremony, which took place on the occasion of Ram Navami, involved anointing the forehead of the idol of Ram Lalla with a ray of sunlight. This event symbolizes the blend of ancient and modern technology that the Prime Minister envisioned for the temple in Ayodhya. The construction committee head emphasized the significance of incorporating new technologies alongside ancient methods to ensure the temple’s durability.

He further elaborated on the origins of the concept, attributing it entirely to Prime Minister Modi’s vision for the utilization of technology in the temple’s construction. The Prime Minister had encouraged the committee to collaborate with scientific institutions to implement innovative ideas. Mr. Misra highlighted the PM’s supportive approach, emphasizing that while he provides guidance, he respects the autonomy of decision-making. Mr. Misra also emphasized that the trust aims to conduct the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony annually and disclosed plans for its continued observance on every Ram Navami.

He explained adjustments made for this year’s ceremony due to the ongoing construction work, expressing confidence that future ceremonies will be flawlessly executed. Addressing the construction progress, Mr. Misra discussed the challenges posed by the high influx of visitors to the temple and assured the prioritization of devotees’ safety. He anticipated the completion of construction by the end of 2024 and expressed gratitude for the support received.
