Anand Mahindra reflects on ex Jet Airways CEO-designate over Dubai rains. admin, April 18, 2024 Sanjiv Kapoor reposted Mr Mahindra’s post on Dubai rains, expressing disagreement by saying, “Incorrect analogy.” Dubai recently experienced heavy rain, causing significant disruptions in the city. This unusual weather event impacted air travel, led to flooding on the streets, and halted normal activities throughout the United Arab Emirates. The state-run weather agency described it as a “historic weather event,” noting that Dubai had not witnessed such heavy rain in 75 years. On April 17, Mr Kapoor criticized Mr Mahindra’s comparison between Dubai rains and Mumbai rains, stating that it was “incorrect.” In response, the Mahindra Group Chairman advised people to “pause before you punch and reflect before you react.” He clarified that his intention was not to mock Dubai but to highlight the atypical nature of the weather in the city. Mr Kapoor, in agreement with Mr Mahindra, acknowledged that his initial reaction was triggered by the responses of others, which he felt were mocking and gloating. He emphasized that Dubai was not built to handle heavy rains, similar to how Mumbai was not designed to handle snow. Later, Mr Kapoor clarified that upon re-reading Mr Mahindra’s post, he realized it may not have been intended as mocking Dubai. However, he maintained that Dubai was not equipped to handle heavy rains, irrespective of their source. He emphasized the impracticality of building cities to handle every extreme weather scenario.
