Arvind Kejriwal’s Diabetes Request Opposed by Enforcement Directorate: “Eating Sweets, Mangoes in Jail admin, April 18, 2024 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is at the center of allegations of a “huge conspiracy,” according to Atishi. She claimed that if the BJP is unable to defeat Kejriwal in the Lok Sabha election within three months, a plan to imprison and kill him is in the works. Atishi emphasized Kejriwal’s health condition, revealing that he has severe diabetes and takes 54 units of insulin daily to keep his sugar level in check. She also mentioned that the court allowed Kejriwal to consume home-cooked food and food prescribed by a doctor due to his medical condition. Atishi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and its affiliate, the ED, of attempting to harm Kejriwal’s health, citing the agency’s alleged lies in court. The ED had claimed that Kejriwal regularly consumed mangoes, sweets, and tea with sugar, all of which are not advised for diabetes patients. Atishi refuted these claims, stating that Kejriwal only consumes tea and sweets with a sweetener, as prescribed by his doctor. She reiterated that the court order mandated Kejriwal to have a supply of toffees and bananas at all times when in ED custody or jail. Atishi accused the ED of misrepresenting Kejriwal’s dietary habits and urged them to consult a diabetes doctor for clarification. The allegations against Chief Minister Kejriwal relate to his purported role in drafting a now-scrapped policy and seeking bribes for liquor licenses. Mr. Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the Supreme Court, but an early hearing has been refused. The wait for a response from the ED continues until the court reconvenes on April 29.
