This is the first instance where Hardik Pandya failed to match the over-rate criteria, resulting in the fine. A statement by the BCCI confirmed the disciplinary action. A repeat of the offence could lead to more severe consequences for Hardik and other Mumbai Indians players.

During the match, the Kings lost their second wicket at the score of 13, and the third wicket fell at 14. Despite a small partnership of 35 runs, the hosts lost half of their side at the score of 49. The partnership of 34 runs was broken after one of the players scored 41 runs from 25 balls before being dismissed.
