Classmate in Karnataka College Stabs Woman 7 Times After Advances Rejected

The victim in this case was Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath. She was a first-year Master of Computer Applications student at the BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology in Hubballi. Neha’s attacker, Fayaz, who had previously studied at the college before dropping out, was arrested by the police. They believe that the attack was motivated by Neha’s rejection of Fayaz’s advances.

The chilling incident took place around 5 pm on a Thursday when Neha was walking inside the college campus. Fayaz confronted her, and CCTV footage showed a brief exchange of words before he launched a violent attack on her. Despite some students trying to intervene and give chase, Fayaz managed to flee the scene. Neha’s mother expressed her disbelief and devastation, stating that she still believed her daughter was alive and was not ready to accept her tragic fate.

She had hoped to see her daughter’s smiling face when she went to pick her up from college. Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar revealed that Neha was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead. The accused was swiftly apprehended by the police, and it was noted that Neha and Fayaz were familiar with each other and had attended college together. Following the incident, a group of right-wing activists gathered outside the Vidyanagar police station in Hubballi, expressing their outrage through slogans.
