Ex-Classmate Stabs Woman 7 Times in Karnataka College after Advances Rejected

The victim in this tragic incident was the daughter of a Congress corporator. Her attacker has been arrested, and police have stated that it appears he committed the crime because she had rejected his advances. Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was a first-year Master of Computer Applications student at the BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology in Hubballi. According to officials, she was acquainted with her attacker, Fayaz, who had also been a student at the college but later dropped out.

The incident occurred around 5 pm on Thursday as Neha was walking inside the campus and was confronted by Fayaz. CCTV footage captured a brief exchange between them before Fayaz attacked her. Despite attempts to fight back, Neha was fatally stabbed and succumbed to her injuries. Neha’s mother shared her devastation, recalling the moment she received the news of her daughter’s attack.

She expressed disbelief and an unwillingness to accept that her daughter was no longer alive, stating that she had hoped to see her daughter continue to smile. Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar provided details of the immediate response to the incident, mentioning that efforts were made to rush Neha to the hospital, but she was declared brought dead. The accused was arrested within 90 minutes of the incident, and further investigation was underway to gather additional information. The tragic event led to a gathering of right-wing activists at the local police station, where they voiced their concerns and shouted slogans.
