Elon Musk Postpones Visit to India: Exploring Tesla’s Obligations Behind the Decision

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced that he has postponed his planned trip to India due to “very heavy Tesla obligations”. His visit was expected to begin in a day, and he was supposed to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to announce investment plans for his businesses.

Musk, who also owns SpaceX, confirmed the delay in his trip and expressed his eagerness to visit India later in the year. He had earlier stated his excitement about meeting with Prime Minister Modi and reports had suggested his possible arrival in India on April 21.

Last June, Musk met with the Prime Minister in the US and assured that Tesla would soon enter the Indian market. His visit was anticipated to bring breakthroughs for both Tesla and Starlink, a satellite internet operator that he owns, with expectations of announcing $2-3 billion investments in India.

Tesla, a leading electric carmaker, has been seeking new markets due to sales slowdown in the US and China. India is considered a potential market, especially after the government reduced taxes on imported cars for companies that invest locally.

Additionally, Starlink is expected to receive initial approvals to operate in India.
