Hyderabad Lok Sabha Election: Madhavi Latha, BJP Candidate, Questions “Imaginary Arrow” at Mosque

Madhavi Latha, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, issued a statement on Thursday evening in response to a controversial video. In the video, Latha is seen making a dramatic gesture mimicking shooting an arrow, which was circulated widely. She later apologized for any hurt feelings but also claimed the video was incomplete. She emphasized that she was gesturing a shot towards the sky, not a mosque, and accused her opponents of inciting negativity.

Latha’s comments drew further criticism from Asaduddin Owaisi, a vocal critic of the BJP, who accused the party of attempting to disrupt the peace and brotherhood prevailing in Hyderabad. He refused to back down on his stance and called for action from the Election Commission. The upcoming Lok Sabha elections for the 17 seats in Telangana, including Hyderabad, are also a focal point of this situation. The political rivalry between different parties, including the BJP, AIMIM, and Congress, is intensifying in the lead-up to the elections on May 17, with results expected on June 4.
