US Imposes Sanctions on 3 Chinese Companies for Supplying Ballistic Missile Technology to Pakistan admin, April 19, 2024 The US State Department has identified several companies from China and Belarus that have been involved in activities contributing to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction or their means of delivery by Pakistan. These companies include Xi’an Longde Technology Development, Tianjin Creative Source International Trade, and Granpect Co. Ltd from China, as well as Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant from Belarus. According to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, these entities have engaged in activities or transactions that have materially contributed to, or pose a risk of materially contributing to, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by Pakistan. The US is committed to disrupting procurement networks that support such proliferation activities. China has been a significant supplier of arms and defense equipment to Pakistan, supporting its military modernization program. The Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant in Belarus provided special vehicle chassis to Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missile program, which are used as launch support equipment for ballistic missiles developed by Pakistan’s National Development Complex. Xi’an Longde Technology Development Company Limited from China supplied missile-related equipment, including a filament winding machine, destined for Pakistan’s NDC, which can be used to produce rocket motor cases. Tianjin Creative Source International Trade Co Ltd supplied missile-related equipment, including stir welding equipment and a linear accelerator system, which the US assesses can be used in the inspection of solid rocket motors, likely destined for Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission. Granpect Company worked with Pakistan’s SUPARCO to supply equipment for testing large-diameter rocket motors and also supplied equipment to Pakistan’s NDC. The US State Department emphasized that these actions aim to disrupt proliferation activities and strengthen the global nonproliferation regime.
