HD Kumaraswamy on JDS-BJP Merger Buzz: If BJP Treats Us Well

HD Kumaraswamy addressed the speculation regarding the merger of Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) with the BJP. He stated that if everything proceeds smoothly, there is no intention of the JDS merging with the BJP and they will collaborate instead.

Kumaraswamy emphasized that there are no possibilities of JDS being absorbed into the BJP and that both parties will work together. He expressed confidence in his party’s strength, stating that opposition from individuals such as Siddaramaiah cannot impact the JDS.

Kumaraswamy also reflected on his previous decision to rebel against the JD(S)-Congress coalition in 2006 and form the government with the BJP, discussing the dynamics between Prime Minister Modi and Deve Gowda. Kumaraswamy delved into Deve Gowda’s political journey, highlighting instances where the Congress allegedly disrespected and humiliated Deve Gowda.

He mentioned Deve Gowda’s varying alliances with different political fronts and discussed the challenges faced by their party in its relationships with the Congress. He criticized the Congress’ stance on secularism and communalism, questioning their misuse of caste composition for political gain.

Kumaraswamy used the example of the DMK’s alliances with both the Congress and the BJP to argue that such decisions are made based on self-interest rather than principles of secularism or communalism.
