The property was registered under the woman’s mother’s name, and when she refused his request, Ayan Pathan reportedly physically assaulted and sexually exploited her. A week ago, he allegedly subjected her to severe violence, causing her to scream, after which he gagged her with chili powder and glued her lips with instant adhesive Fevikwik. Local administration officials recently arrived at Ayan Pathan’s residence with a bulldozer to serve a notice of demolition. Following the assault, the woman was initially taken to a hospital in Gwalior and later referred to Delhi. She suffered severe bruises on her face and swelling that caused her eyes to nearly shut. Ayan Pathan was later arrested and taken by the police to the crime scene, where they recovered a belt, a tube of Fevikwik, and a plastic pipe used in the attack. Ayan Pathan and his brother work as laborers, and according to the police, Ayan Pathan was involved in drug use and engaged in frequent conflicts within the community, evoking fear among the residents. A neighbor informed reporters that they were aware of additional evidence collected by the police and stated that a case including charges of rape has been filed against the accused. The practice of demolishing illegally constructed houses of individuals involved in crimes against women has gained traction, especially in Uttar Pradesh, where the state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set an example in deterring potential criminals in the area.
