Neha Hiremath, Love Jihad: Father of Karnataka Murder Accused Demands Apology with Folded Hands

Neha Hiremath was brutally attacked by Fayaz Khondunaik, who stabbed her seven times after she rejected his advances. The incident came to light around 6 pm on Thursday, leaving Baba Saheb Subani, Fayaz’s father, deeply shocked and pained by his son’s actions. Subani expressed his remorse and apologized to Neha’s family, acknowledging her as a daughter figure to him.

The family revealed that they have been living separately for the past six years, and Fayaz stayed with his mother while contacting his father for financial support as needed. Subani recalled being informed eight months ago of his son’s troubling behavior towards Neha. He admitted that Fayaz had made a mistake and spoke of their relationship, mentioning his refusal for their marriage plans.

He also condemned his son’s actions, seeking forgiveness from the people of Karnataka. Neha’s family dispute the relationship claim and insist that Fayaz attacked her after she turned down his proposal. They have been demanding capital punishment for the accused, and protests have erupted in various parts of the state, resulting in a political controversy between the ruling Congress and opposition BJP.

The incident, which took place on the campus of BVB College, has garnered widespread condemnation and sparked demonstrations. The ruling party attempts to frame it as a “personal angle incident,” while the opposition party suggests possible “love jihad” and raises concerns about law and order in the state. Fayaz, who was arrested following the incident, claims that he and Neha were in a relationship but she had started avoiding him recently.
