P Chidambaram announces Congress’ significant CAA move amid Pinarayi Vijayan’s criticism before 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

P Chidambaram, appealing to the people, urged them to vote the INDIA bloc to power in Delhi. He mentioned the intention of the Congress party to repeal the CAA despite it not being mentioned in their manifesto. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPI(M) have criticized the Congress for not mentioning the CAA in its manifesto.

Chidambaram defended this decision, stating that it was not included because the manifesto had become too long. He further emphasized that the BJP’s ten-year rule had caused significant damage to the country through the misuse of its parliamentary majority. Chidambaram, as the chairman of the manifesto committee, asserted that the CAA would be repealed, not amended, in the first session of Parliament under the INDIA Bloc government.

Responding to criticisms from Vijayan, Chidambaram pointed out that Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had spoken against the CAA in Parliament. When asked about the potential impact of the Ayodhya Ram temple inauguration on the elections, Chidambaram expressed hope that it would not influence them, emphasizing that the temple’s construction fulfills the desire of the people and should not play a political role. Chidambaram also criticized Vijayan for focusing on the state-level aspects and urged him to consider the upcoming elections as a national event.

He highlighted the INDIA Bloc, comprising the Congress and its allies, as a strong contender against the BJP across India and emphasized that the Congress was better positioned to fight the BJP and form a government in Delhi. In conclusion, Chidambaram appealed to the people to vote for the INDIA bloc in the upcoming elections. The polling in Kerala for the Lok Sabha election is scheduled for April 26, with nationwide results to be declared on June 4.
