Sunil Gavaskar Issues Stern Warning About High-Scoring IPL Matches

In just 35 matches played so far, teams have crossed the 250-run mark five times. SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) achieved this feat three times and also holds the record for the highest-ever IPL total, doing so twice. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to increase the length of the boundary by moving the ropes and advertisement board further back.

He emphasized the need for bigger boundaries to prevent matches from being excessively biased towards batsmen and to give bowlers a fair chance. Gavaskar highlighted the significance of this change by explaining how a slightly larger boundary could make the difference between a catch and a sixer. Gavaskar expressed his concern over the current trend in T20 cricket, where players seem to be solely focused on aggressive batting, without considering the consequences.

He voiced his opinion that while it can be exciting to watch, there is a need for more balance in the game, rather than just a display of power-hitting.
