Tihar Prison Responds to AAP Allegations Regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s Claims without Changing Opinion admin, April 21, 2024 AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the jail administration of a flip-flop and reiterated the party’s claim of a conspiracy against Arvind Kejriwal in prison. He stated that a senior diabetologist for Mr. Kejriwal was requested from AIIMS in a letter to Sanjay Baniwal, Director General of Prisons. In response, the jail administration revealed that a senior doctor from AIIMS had been consulted via video conferencing at the request of the Chief Minister’s wife, who assured Mr. Kejriwal that there were no serious concerns and advised him to continue with prescribed medicines. This statement came after claims by Mr. Bharadwaj and Delhi Minister Atishi that Mr. Kejriwal was being denied insulin and consultations with his doctors, and that a conspiracy was being plotted to harm him. The Tihar administration insisted that there was sufficient availability of insulin in the jail dispensary and it could be administered to Mr. Kejriwal when required. They cited medical records from RML Hospital indicating that Mr. Kejriwal was not advised insulin or indicated to require it, and refuted claims of denying insulin during his treatment. The medicine specialist from the jail noted that Mr. Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels were not alarming, and insulin administration was not required at the time. Additionally, the ED had informed the court that Arvind Kejriwal had been consuming high-sugar foods daily, despite having type 2 diabetes, to support a medical bail application. The administration had previously requested a diet plan for Mr. Kejriwal, stating that he was consuming high-sugar and high-cholesterol foods regularly. However, Mr. Kejriwal contended that his food consumption aligned with his doctor’s diet chart. Arvind Kejriwal
