Arvind Kejriwal expresses sadness at having to ask for insulin daily while in Tihar Jail. admin, April 22, 2024 On March 21, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED. Following a meeting, jail officials claimed that the supply of insulin for Mr. Kejriwal had not been raised. They also stated that doctors had assured him of no serious concerns and advised him to continue with prescribed medicines. However, Mr. Kejriwal disputed these claims, stating that he had asked for insulin daily and showed glucometer readings indicating high sugar levels. Mr. Kejriwal disclosed that his sugar level readings were between 250 and 320 mg/dl, which were considerably higher than the normal fasting blood glucose concentration of 70-100 mg/dL, according to the World Health Organization. He expressed his disappointment with the Tihar administration’s statements, proclaiming that they were false and a lie under political pressure. The tension between Mr. Kejriwal and the central government, which he has accused of political vendetta, intensified as the Lok Sabha election in the national capital approaches. The Aam Aadmi Party leader, who has been in jail since his arrest, sought direction from the court for the supply of insulin and criticized the jail and probe agency for politicizing his well-being. The arrest of Mr. Kejriwal and the AAP’s denial of all charges have brought accusations of conspiracy from his colleague, Atishi, who accused the center of attempting to defeat him in the election. The court has refused an early hearing, and Mr. Kejriwal must wait until April 29 for the ED’s reply when the court reconvenes. Arvind Kejriwal
