Mr. Kejriwal criticized the jail administration for failing to provide him with insulin despite his repeated requests. In response, the Tihar jail administration refuted these allegations, stating that during a video consultation with specialists from AIIMS, neither the issue of insulin nor its necessity was raised. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has supported Mr. Kejriwal’s claims, accusing the officials under the BJP’s central government of deliberately withholding his treatment. They have emphasized that the recent provision of insulin, after Mr. Kejriwal’s assertions, indicates the necessity of the medication. Following a court directive, AIIMS has been directed to form a medical board to assess Mr. Kejriwal’s medical needs, specifically concerning insulin. The court has identified discrepancies in Mr. Kejriwal’s dietary regimen and has requested an evaluation of his medical requirements. Mr. Kejriwal has rejected the jail administration’s claim that insulin was never raised as an issue during his consultations with doctors. He insists that he persistently demanded insulin over a period of 10 days, and the AAP has alleged a conspiracy to harm him by withholding insulin. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has suggested that Mr. Kejriwal’s diabetes is under control in jail, as he did not express the need for insulin during consultations with AIIMS doctors. The Enforcement Directorate has accused Mr. Kejriwal of exploiting his health for legal advantage by consuming sugary foods regularly, which Mr. Kejriwal has denied and criticized as a politicization of the issue Mr. Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 in connection with a money-laundering case has kept him in Tihar jail since April 1.
