Sourav Ganguly Endorses Star Duo to Open for India at T20 World Cup

He specifically highlighted the significance of six-hitting and expressed confidence in Virat Kohli’s capability to score a century within 40 balls. Ganguly further emphasized the need for fearless and free play, and praised the exceptional talents and six-hitting abilities of the Indian players. Ganguly also commented on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s potential, stating that his selection for the T20 World Cup should not be solely based on one IPL season’s performance.

He advocated for a balance of youth and experience in the Indian T20 WC team, underscoring the importance of considering both IPL and international performances in the selection process. Discussing the Impact Player rule, which allows teams to use substitutes in matches, Ganguly indicated that it has not diminished the role of all-rounders, but rather provides teams with the opportunity to include a better batter instead of an average all-rounder. He also commended the performances of good all-rounders and highlighted a specific innings by an unnamed player against Chennai Super Kings as exceptional.

Finally, Ganguly acknowledged the potential influence of the IPL on the selection of the T20 WC squad, expressing hope that the selectors will consider performances from the past three to four seasons.
